Wine

Wine from Cyprus

At over 9000 square kilometers, Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Geographically it belongs to Asia because it sits on the Anatolian tectonic plate. Cyprus is about 50 kilometers from the Turkish mainland. Located so south, Cyprus spoils its inhabitants with many sunny days every year. The island was settled by humans around 10,000 years ago.

In the north of the island there is the Kyrenia mountain range, with a peak height of up to 1024 metres. And in the central to southern part, the mightier Troodos Mountains rise up to 1952 meters. The southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains in particular have been used for growing grapes for thousands of years. Between 250 and 1500 meters above sea level, limestone and volcanic rock prepare the soil for the local wines. The Troodos Mountains offer, in addition to its soil, about 700 to 1000 millimeters of annual precipitation. Cyprus wine, whether red, white or rosé, inspires wine lovers all over the world. The geographical location and long history invite you to find your favorite Cypriot wine.
